The game was originally backed on Kickstarter and later received a paid DLC pack (called the Quip Pack) on Septemthat mixes 125 additional prompts in with the main question set. Players get points based on how many other players (including the participating audience) voted for their quip, with the highest-scoring player winning the game. Each prompt is given to exactly two players, meaning that each quip is faced head-to-head with another quip.

One unique gameplay mechanic that's added to the series is viewer interaction, where additional party-goers (including those watching from an online stream) can also use the Jackbox.TV website for limited participation.ĭuring the game, the participating players must answer a set of random comedic prompts where there are no right or wrong answers, and then vote for the answers they like the most on the prompts given to other players.
Similar to the games included in the 2014 game collection The Jackbox Party Pack, all participating players (3-8 per game) use smartphones and computers (anything with a web browser) to interact with the game in secret (by directing their web browsers to the Jackbox.TV website). It was later digitally released for the Apple TV on January 11, 2016. Quiplash is an multi-device multiplayer party game developed and published digitally by Jackbox for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Amazon Fire TV, PC, Mac, and Linux on June 30, 2015.
